June Training with HP First Aid Squad

2194

Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department & Highland Park First Aid Squad came together Sunday, June 23, 2013 for a joint training exercise & information sharing session.

The goal of the exercise was to better assist one another at emergency incidents.

For the training exercise members were given a scenario of an injured person on the roof of a building – we used the old Hamilton School / Center School (thank you to the new owners). Upon arrival members were told there was no way onto the roof other than ladders.

HPVFD put up a ground ladder & two members of HP First Aid Squad accessed the roof, located the injured person, assessed the situation and called for transport assistance. HPVFD Truck 3 operated its Bucket with attachments to hoist additional EMS personnel & supplies to the roof.  After the injured person was placed on a backboard & stabilized, Truck 3 was used again to lower the injured person to ground level.

The scenario was repeated several times with seniors members instructing often.
