The June 2013 Company for Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department was a Live Burn Training at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. For the training we used the “Taxpayer” Building at the Academy. The Taxpayer helps simulate retail & business establishments in your town – often compartmentalized sections of different businesses that share the same common structure. These buildings sometimes have apartments on the higher levels so there is a mix of commercial, retail & residential all in one.
HPVFD Firefighters ran through three different evolutions using Engine 1 & Truck 3. Engine 2 was on-scene was support & staff as well. Crews trained on hydrant connections, pump operations, stretching hose lines, interior fire attack, natural roof ventilation, search & rescue and incident command to name a few. After each evolution the full company assembled to critique & discuss.
