Highland Park officially welcomed the new Truck 3 with a Wetdown on Saturday, August 17, 2013. Beautiful weather, great food & lots of fun were enjoyed by all.
HPVFD Assistant Chief & Truck Committee Chairperson Marc Robinson served as Master-of-Ceremonies, giving the large crowd some background on the Truck & Committee process. HPVFD Chief Mike McMahon, HP Councilperson Elsie Foster-Dublin & Middlesex County Freeholder (and former HP Mayor) H. James Polos all spoke about the Truck, the town & the event. Ex-Chief & HPVFD Chaplain John Byrne led a prayer and held a moment of silence to remember HPVFD Ex-Chief John Robert “Bob” Toth, who had passed away days earlier.
HPVFD Ex-Chief Vince Murphy did the honors to officially welcome Truck 3:
A Motorcade through Highland Park followed and Truck 3 was met with a Wetdown upon returning:
Kids (and many adults) played in the water, everyone ate a huge spread of food, enjoyed music & entertainment or just caught up with old friends.
There are so many people to thank – the HPVFD members, their families, the Highland Park Borough Council & Mayor, Middlesex County Freeholders, Fire & Safety Services, fellow fire departments who participated, Mutual Aid from Spotswood & Princeton, the Tilted Kilt East Brunswick, our food & beverage vendors, our T-Shirt, mug & glassware makers, our event DJ, everyone who attended, helped & supported the day and of course, the fantastic residents of the Borough of Highland Park, NJ. Thank you all.
