2013 was a busy year for the Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department. From emergency calls to Mutual Aid coverages of neighboring towns, to community events, to regular training & classes, our volunteers remained busy year-round providing fire & emergency assistance to protect lives & property in Highland Park.
A special thank you to our dedicated women & men who volunteer their time, to the family members of our volunteers who do so much at & around our events and emergency calls, often without enough recognition and thank you to the Borough of Highland Park to have faith in us as a Fire Department.
Here are some of the highlights & newsworthy items from the last year:
Multiple structure fires including Cherry Street on April 18th & Benner Street on May 9th.
Mutual Aid to Metuchen (multiple times) New Brunswick (mutiple) & to Old Bridge on November 24th.
Community Events like the HP 5K & Street Fair, Memorial Day Remembrance & Parade, 4th of July Parade in Milltown and a host of events & activities for Fire Prevention Week.
We welcomed the new Truck 3 with a Wetdown!
Training had us working together on Truck 3 at Highland Park High School, learning how to effectively call for a Mayday, working in tandem with the HP First Aid Squad, following hoselines around the playground at Donaldson Park and within live burn situations.
We take great pride in putting on a uniform to represent Highland Park and look forward to 2014 being an even better year!
