Fire Prevention Week 2014 Events & Activities

640x180v01

The Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department is proud to announce events, activities & resources for Fire Prevention Week 2014! We are holding our own Fire Prevention Week activities & events a week late this year due to Yom Kippur & holiday conflicts during the actual week.

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) started Fire Prevention Week in 1927 to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, the tragic 1871 conflagration that killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures and burned more than 2,000 acres. The theme for 2014 is “Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month“.

Highland Park Volunteer Fire Department will be visiting schools within the Borough during the week of October 6th and will host an Open House at the Fire Department on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 12 Noon until 3 PM. We hope you can join us during one of the events this week!
